From the website:
“Anybody who has ever had a chance to visit a traditional Christmas market in Germany, Switzerland or Austria will never forget its charming atmosphere. Small wooden huts, lighted Christmas trees and candles, music, jingle bells, vibrant colours, visiting Santas, delicious smells of waffles, candies and treats of many kinds; hot chocolate, punch, food grilled on open charcoal barbecues and a variety of unique arts, crafts and gifts transform these European Christmas markets into feasts for all the senses. Visitors of every age are cheered by the warm, illuminated atmosphere, reminding them that the cold, dark days of winter won’t last forever. Traditional European Christmas markets are an important heritage of German speaking countries – the magic they evoke for children takes adults back to the mysteries of their own childhoods.
Our wooden huts form a small, ‘ancient, fairy-tale Christmas village’ which, adorned with lights and candles, comes alive in the dark, winter nights – thus creating a fitting place for all the wonderful traditional Christmas fare of yesteryear.
Never before had there been a traditional European Christmas market in the Kootenay region until last year when our first Christmas by the Lake offered a unique and exciting Christmas experience which proved to be a resounding success, drawing people to the Slocan Valley from near and far.”
